AM Seafoods Maintenance Engineer Mark Leonard recently took part in a privately organised charity 10K run on Blackpool Promenade.
Together with his friends they decided to organise the event to raise funds for the non profit Blue Skies Hospitals Fund at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. A very close friend of Mark’s has been suffering from leukaemia and had received treatment from the Haematology Unit at the Hospital.
Blue Skies Hospitals Fund is the charity for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They strive to help turn grey skies of ill health to blue and to do this they fund equipment, amenities and projects to provide better patient care on the Fylde Coast.
To say a big thank you for saving and looking after their friend they decided to organise the run to raise much needed funds.
On Sunday 18th November they gathered on the prom to complete the run in lovely sunny wintery weather. Having never completed a 10k run before Mark did very well and completed the 10k in a very respectable time of 47 minutes. He managed to cross the finish line in first place…..while wearing pink fairy wings.
In total Mark raised £705 that contributed to a grand total of £3,903 raised for Blue Skies.
Big congratulations to Mark and his friends.
